 Turmeric extract is the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, derived from the turmeric root. Turmeric is a spice that has a flavor similar to mustard, and is yellow in color. Annatto extract comes from the resinous seed coat of the achiote tree. Considered a natural food color, it is used predominantly for its orange-yellow color, but sometimes also for its flavor and aroma.
